Assignment 3 - My Entrepreneurship Story

As with many young aspiring entrepreneurs, one of the first business niches I went into was the sale of school sponsored candy, specifically: World's Finest Chocolate.

You've probably seen them before. They come in packaging like this:
In my first year of high school, the school had a fundraiser where they would provide us with these box of chocolates, and the person who sold the most chocolate for the school would get a prize. All of the money raised went to the school to support things like field trips, but if I'm being honest, the main reason I did this was for the prize: An IPod.

Unfortunately, I didn't end up winning the prize (I did make it to the top 3 though). What I did realize however, is that I thoroughly enjoyed trying to sell as much chocolate as possible, ranging from knocking on the doors of my neighbor and putting on a puppy dog face, to forcing my Dad to have his work colleagues purchase some. I loved the social aspect of selling things, and being able to convince people that they needed to purchase what I had to offer.

This experience made me realize that starting a business is something I may have an interest in, which is the main reason I chose to take ENT3003 here at UF. I want to see how much I enjoy the activities we do in this class, and whether starting a business is actually something I would want to pursue in the future. I hope that this class helps me realize whether I really do have a passion for starting a business, and whether I have the patience and dedication to put in the work required to succeed in this field.
